This is the quiet time… Clearwater Lodge closes down all operations in the winter months with the exception of our two winterized premium cabins (Cabin 8 and Cabin 11). There is certainly something magical about winter in the wilderness. The cold silence, the mesmerizing snow falling and of course the Aurora Borealis and the crystal clear star-scape across the BWCAW dark sky sanctuary.
If you enjoy winter activities like snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, this is a great place to start. Literally yards from both cabins is the access point for the Daniels Spur trail that leads you to the Border Route Trail and beyond. You can also go right out on the lake and make your way to the foot of the Palisades. For skiers, our neighbors at Golden Eagle Lodge offer some of the best groomed cross-country skiing found anywhere in the state.
Perhaps sitting by the fireplace with a book and beverage of your choice is more your idea of winter relaxation, these cabins are a wonderful place to curl up and take in the views down Clearwater Lake to our snow covered palisades.
Enjoy the tranquility of the northern winter and reserve today. These cabins rent similar to a VRBO in the winter (without the hidden fee’s) and you will be sent an access code to your cabin prior to your visit.
